JNU Protest, Reasons and Why?

JNU Protest, Reasons?

Right or Wrong

We all are aware of the situation which is happing in our nation right now. The JNU protest as we know, is this a right move to support? Or is it a random publicity stunt usually happens in JNU campus to gain publicity. Whatever the reason is, we don’t know. The only thing we know is that it is all about fees hike. In the upcoming paragraphs I will express my views regarding this situation. I will be politically neutral and will write in a lucid and unbiased manner. So let’s get started.

The Cause:
Getting into the matter I found out that this whole situation is because of the fees hike. From 10 rupees the rental charge is increased to 1000 which is nothing in this age. It is estimated that the increase is about 300% But is it? Is this right? Well, in my opinion this is not. Getting admission in JNU is considered a tough task to accomplish. It is a well known fact that a lot of well educated intellectuals have graduated from this institute. The lime light falls on the new Nobel Laurite “Abhijit Banerjee” who was once a student of this precious institute. It is a well known fact that Abhijit Sir once get into troubles during his college years and even get into prison for the act of raising voice and asking for his own rights. By this very same student movement a lot of well known politician emerged from Arun Jetley to Lalu Prasad. Then we might ask why this type of oppression for students in 2019? Is our media biased? Why our politicians are silent or against our students?

The Protest :
The protest started because of the very same reason, that is of fees hike. If we look all over India the fees hike is a common issue. From private schools to government universities and govt. aided institutes all are hiking up their fees. From IIT to JNU this condition is so bad that a lot of financially weak students are giving up their dream of becoming an engineer or a getting a good education from a well known institute. It is not a big issue as most of us are thinking but let us all think about it. In JNU around 40% students are from below poverty line and same goes for IIT where general category students need to pay around 10 lak rupee and SC, ST are paying nothing, countries like Germany have free education policies and those scheme help a lot of students to achieve their dream. In a country like India where most of us are from middle class or poor class this type of fees hike is strictly not acceptable. Our nation spends up about only 3% of its GDP on education and nearly  3 rupee per day on health care of its citizen. Even poorer countries like Zimbabwe spend two times more than us. This GDP needs to get increased by 3 to 4 times, in that manner we can assure that we as a nation are getting educated. In every household we can see there is a fixed amount allotted for children education and that amount is nearly 20 to 30 %  of annual income or even more. Then why don’t we are getting subsidized education if we can get on pensions and gas cylinders then why not on education. We can pay for that as they are daily essentials. Then why can’t we pay up for the future of our nation that is to pay up for our youth education? Every tax payers money is getting wasted to fulfill some govt. program which is nothing but a scam.

Conclusion:
This situation need to change. We as a citizen and youth need to raise up our voice and demands some right to have in determining our future. We are the future. We are the bearer of those policies. Let us raise our voice and ask some question like these and spread awareness among our community.

·         Why can’t education be free for all?
·         Why our nation not spending on uplifting govt. governed schools? Why only KV an JNV have good education? Why can’t normal students study in those institutes?
·         Why we have to pay fees if we get admitted by clearing a competition?
·         Why is our govt. not bringing new policies in reducing fees and revolutionizing education sector?
·         Who are they to decide our future?

I am sure if we ask right questions and raise up our voice then we can definitely make education free and affordable. Lets stand together an support those who need our real help not those who only need our votes.
